Responding to the Challenge of Loneliness in Social Care

October 17 @ 09:30 - 11:00

Responding to the Challenge of Loneliness in Social Care

This webinar will attempt to identify and address the conditions of loneliness and social isolation.

One million people aged 65 and over in the UK report they are often or always lonely.

However, loneliness and social isolation are conditions that are difficult to identify, complex to address and hard to resolve.

Indeed, loneliness and isolation is an issue that not only effects older people but many others who are using social care services.

It is also an issue that raises wider public health concerns.

The evidence base for interventions to address loneliness and social isolation is emerging and, while inconclusive at this stage, can offer some important insights in how we can address this issues.

This webinar will look at the implications for those working in adult social care and focus on:

• The impact of loneliness and social isolation.

• What works in terms of emerging research to help address loneliness and social isolation?

• What are the challenges faced by commissioners and those delivering interventions?

• How can these challenges be overcome?
