Chinara Enterprises and Solution Focused People are pleased to announce the launch of “The Reflective Practice Network“. ( RPN )

Who are we ?

We engage specialists whose work we know and trust to work with us to work on projects, as well as undertaking some of the work ourselves. We quality assure every aspect of the work we undertake to ensure value for money and to ensure that our clients are satisfied with our service.

She has CIPD membership, as well as over 14 yrs. experience in Senior Management positions, and approx. 10 yrs. experience as an interim working both directly with recruitment agencies and directly with employers across London, South East and South West London. Carol has also led a number of successful partnership projects with Skills for Care, and the old CWDC ( Children’s Workforce Development Council ) now the Dept of Education , as well as her work in the voluntary sector spanning 25 years plus. Carol is also a Trustee of two charities and a Director of a CIC

Solution Focused People Ltd is a team of qualified social workers fusing solution oriented approaches into management, training, supervision, performance coaching and projects, with experience of delivering these domains across sectors using a variety of on and offline media. We are particularly passionate about re-energising social work, in the face of relentless change and budget cuts, whilst achieving faster, better and more efficient client outcomes.

Jan Carpenter is Director/founder of SFP, a qualified/HCPC registered social worker of 18 years, with management experience, and roughly 11 years as a locum. Jan has also worked both in and outside the social care sector as a trainer and qualified Corporate and Executive coach and Personal Performance coach. Jan has delivered professional supervision and coaching to qualified social workers and coaching skills training to social care managers. Jan has also delivered training to recruitment consultants about the social work profession.

The Reflective Practice Network

Research by Community Care in November 2014, found that “the average UK council spent £1.2m on agency workers in children’s services and £647,247 in adults’ services, an increase of 33% on the previous year.

Carol and Jan had previously undertaken research with a group of agency workers, and out of nearly 50 participants, almost 95% stated that they had no access to reflective supervision, CPD, or even thought about their own career development.

While interims tend to have access to core mandatory training, like the Care Act and safeguarding, anything outside of this they typically have to fund themselves. However taking time off work for training results in a double cost – cost of training plus loss of earnings. The result is that interims have less time for learning, resulting in greater levels of professional risk as well as less opportunities for professional development.

At a recent event we facilitated for Badenoch and Clark, all 46 social workers stated they do not have time for reflection. At the same event there was an overwhelming response to a need for more networking/cpd events, suitable for the needs of interims, as well as access to coaching and mentoring services.
